The series was another competitive one, but the Spurs prevailed in six games, with Duncan recording a triple-double in the series-clinching game. Duncan was named the Finals MVP for the third time in his career, becoming the first player to win the award in both back-to-back and non-consecutive years.

Off the court, Duncan continued his philanthropy work, including donating funds to support Hurricane Isabel relief efforts in his hometown of St. Croix.

He earned All-NBA First Team honors for the fifth time, won his fourth NBA championship, and won his third Finals MVP award. Despite his on-court success, Duncan continued to use his platform to make positive impacts off the court through his philanthropic efforts.
