 In the 1999-2000 NBA season, Kevin Garnett looked to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to their first playoff appearance in six years. The team finished the season with a 50-32 record, good for second place in the Midwest Division.

 Garnett’s performance in the regular season was superb. He averaged 22.9 points, 11.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 49.1% from the field. He became the first player to finish in the top five in scoring, rebounding, and assists since NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain.

 Garnett was named to the All-NBA First Team for the first time in his career and the All-Defensive First Team for the third consecutive year. He finished fifth in the MVP voting.

 In the playoffs, the Timberwolves faced the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. Garnett’s play remained top-notch, averaging 21.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game in the three-game series. However, the Timberwolves lost in three games, ending their playoff run.

 Off the court, Garnett was also selected to play on the United States National Team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, where he helped the team win the gold medal.
